High Quality RTV Silicone Moulding Rubber Kits Base & Catalyst

  
This RTV Silicone rubber has been formulated to be a high quality flexible and elastic material with exceptional tear strength. It will give excellent reproduction of fine detail without the use of a vacuum chamber due to its low viscosity. It has a long mould life with outstanding release properties. There is almost no shrinkage (0.2%). It has a Shore hardness of 20.

This rubber is suitable for casting a wide range of materials including plaster, Jesmonite, concrete and cement and casting resins - please see our separate listings for these casting materials. The kit comes with a white base rubber and a green fast catalyst which provides a visual aid to ensure that the material is thoroughly mixed. The Catalyst should be added at 3% to the Base Silicone. Fast catalyst - 30-40 minutes working time, 5-7 hours curing time.

Thixo (Thickener) can be included in the kit (See drop down menu) this is mixed at 3% - the correct amount is in each kit. This will make the silicone more of a paste, making it easier to brush-on (butter-on). This Silicone is suited to moulding delicate and fragile items, the rubber is soft and flexible enough to peel off without damaging the casting. Metals with a pouring temperature below 180°C.
