25kg Resin plus 10kg Matting. This fibreglass matting is often called CHOPPED STRAND MATT (CSM).
Its mostly used together with Fibreglass (polyester) resin. The matting provides the strength and structural support with the resin acting as a binder. From the drop down menu, you can select 3 different " weights " or thickness. This is measured in "grams per sq M". The 600g/ m has twice the amount of glass strands compared with the 300g option with the 450g taking the middle ground.The heavier material will be stiffer and less pliable, If you have curves and complex shapes, consider using the lighter matting and building up layers (2 layers of 300g/m for example). Available Thickness (weight of glass). The CSM is sent rolled without folds to avoid any damage to the fibres.
We sell the rolls on Length Selected from the drop down menu of the matting. Please use the following guide for approx coverage. Coverage : 750g resin per Sq M or 2.5kg resin per Kg of CSM. Coverage : 1.2kg per Sq M or 2.5kg resin per Kg of CSM. Coverage : 1.5 kg Resin per Sq M or 2.5kg resin per kg of CSM.
CAUTION - take care to select correct thickness - for example - if you compare the 5kg resin plus matting - If you select the 300g weight option you will receive 7 Sq M - The 600g option will be 3 Sq M. Both options will require a similar amount of resin to " WET OUT ".
Our general purpose resin is top quality, pre-accelerated, thixotropic, orthophthalic resin suitable for a wide range of applications including boat building & repair, roofing, casting and more. Used by professionals worldwide from small industrial to super-yachts.
Manufactured by one of the worlds leading producers of resins, its formulated to provide high quality mouldings whilst keeping styrene emissions low, allowing a better working environment. The resin is of a similar spec and performance of a Lloyds approved resin and is suited for the the vast majority of projects and repairs. The advised mix ratio is 2%. We suggest that the resin is WEIGHED on scales and then calculate the catalyst by multiplying measured weight x 0.02. For example a weight of 250g (250 x 0.02), add 5ml Hardener using the supplied syringe. Working time - Ambient temperature makes a huge difference- At a typical 18 deg C - expect approx 15-20 mins working time and a full cure after 24 hours. Hotter conditions significantly REDUCE this working time. We suggest avoid hot conditions and direct sunlight and would advice not to use in conditions hotter than 25 Deg C.Colder conditions lengthen the working time and curing time. Do not use in less than 3 Deg C conditions or if frost is expected. Shelf life is 4 MONTHS - This can be increased if stored out of sunlight and cool conditions.
