Now, with the backing of a local supplier SimplySIPs we can offer Garden Studio kits at very affordable prices. Using a product called SIPs (Structurally Insulated Panels), we can produce a fully insulated box, allowing you to enjoy a warm sanctuary 365 day a year. The panels can be used for the floor, walls and the roof.

Its all in the description, Summer Houses that are offered by shed companies, are just that, houses that can be used in summer, they are not insulated at all. Structurally Insulated Panels (Sips) were developed originally in the 1960's in the USA, but like many things, they have been improved further in the UK. There are many different types of SIPs available, some have a timber stud as part of the wall, but true SIPs are made of continuous rigid insulation, thus eliminating Cold Bridging. SIPs panels are easy to manoeuvre, two people can easily lift them into position, this coupled with the speed of build, a Garden Studio can easily be erected in a day.

SIPs panels are a very basic concept, they consist of two pieces of OSB3 board, with a rigid insulation in between, like a sandwich (they are sometimes called sandwich panels). In the manufacturing process, the sandwich is glued using a specialist adhesive, then put under immense pressure in a press. Once cured, the panels act like an RSJ beam which is very strong. The standard panel has a thickness of 97mm, and a U-Value of 0.30 W/mK, which is more insulated that most of the houses in the UK. There is an upgrade option of a 122mm panel which has a U-value of 0.22 W/mK. We have a large selection of kits available, ranging from 8ft x 8ft, right the way through to 12ft x 14ft. We will manufacture the kit ready for you to collect from our premises based in Bourne, South Lincolnshire. All SIPs wall, floor and roof panels , cut to size and identified for ease of assembly. Structural timber (C16 or C24) required, again cut to size. Some of the timber will be fitted to the panels. Jointing Splines for joining the walls together.

When Will I Get My Kit? Lead time is normally about 3 weeks from the point of receipt of the deposit, although at busy times this will be longer. You will be advised about the lead time when we discuss you requirements. External Breather Membrane and Battens.

Roof Material - we suggest EPDM rubber or Fibreglass. External Cladding UPVC or timber.

Internal fit out electrics and plasterboard. You will also need adhesive (glue), a range of screws, specialist panel foam, nails, DPM plastic, etc. A detail list will be given to you. What Tools will I need? Not everyone has a nail gun in their garage!

Most people can hire a van, drive to my Industrial Unit, collect and return to their house, cheaper than it costs us. Do I need Planning Permission? Since the government relaxed its planning laws, it is now classed as Permitted Development to have a Garden Office. The Studio can be used for recreational purposes (gym, BBQ room, TV room, Office, playroom, etc) but not for sleeping accommodation.

This question gets asked regularly! There are some crafty ways to save cost. Try asking at your local UVPC window supplier if they have any mis-measured doors or windows.

They would normally scrap these, as they will never be able to find a house that they would fit. Because we make the Studio Kits from scratch, we are happy to produce the window or door reveal to that size.
